ESPN just came out with their Western Conference Predictions. Chances are you're all nerds like me and have already read them. If not, however, here you go. Sure you can view every team in the West, but there is only one team that matters.
Pretty predictable stuff really. We are always going to be third on the list behind Kobe, CP3 and their clubs. I'm a bit disappointed by the few "4's" we have on there but our Homer, John Hollinger's #1 ranking makes up for that.
Could this be the year? In Utah, the phrase, "This is our Year" is a bit cliche. In fact, I think C.B. Jack has the "This is Our Year" banners from '96, '97, '98, '99, '06, '07 & '08 hanging on his newly born sons' wall. But the 2008-2009 Season may truly be our year. Why, well there are all sorts of reasons. We're young, yet mature, we have depth and a whole lot of talent. But realistically, lets cut the crap. After this year this team could completely dismantle. We know we can't afford everyone and who knows what trades will go down, who will stay who will go etc. The truth is, there is a sense of urgency felt by Jazz Nation that it's now or never. I'm feeling it. Call me crazy but I truly think we can do it. I'm ready to get this started and find out what the Jazz are made of.
I'm curious to see what you think. How would you rank the Western Conference? Be honest. (However, if I see one person rank Utah anything other than #1, I will find out who and where you are and send the Millsap bro's to take care of you. It can be done, I promise. Have you seen Eagle Eye? Watch your back naysayers.) No pressure though. Here is my completely un-biased prediction of how the Northwest will be Won this year:
1. Utah
2. Blazers
3. Wolves
4. Nuggets
5. Thunder (We will drop one to this team this year....guaranteed. Most likely right after we roll L.A. and Boston.)
My prediction for the West:
1. Utah
2. Hornets
3. Lakers
4. Suns
5. Spurs
6. Rockets
7. Mavs
8. Blazers
9. Clippers
10. Warriors
11. Nuggets
12. Wolves
13. Kings
14. Grizzlies
15. Thunder

5. Sonics

Honestly, I cant wait to see how this unfolds. I think the top 4 teams could end up in any sort of order and the there will be a pretty good drop off to number 5-12. It is going to be a huge scramble for the last few playoff spots this year in the west.
Speaking of thunder. Is it just me or do you all get a little embarrassed when Bolerjack says "Thunda lightnin" When Boozer dunks.
1. Jazz
2. Lake show
3. CP hornets
4. The Thunda
5. Ball sack..
Interesting post Booner.
Here is the way I see it:
NW Division
1. Jazz
2. Blazers
3. Nuggetts
don't care from there
Western Conference
1. Lakers
2. Jazz
3. Rockets
4. Spurs
5. Hornets
6. Blazers
7. Suns
8. Mavericks
I just don't see the Jazz better than the Lakers right now. I think Portland is the sleeper (who doesn't). I see CP3 coming down with a big injury and the team showing it's true colors because of it. And I think the Rockets have their best team in 5 years.
I just got a call from a weird phone number and it was some guy saying he was gonna break my knees. He then called back and asked if I was interested in purchasing Utah Flash season tickets? Any ideas? The best part was the background music....weird.
You do realize you put the Wolves ahead of the Nuggets in your division prediction and then switched them in your conference prediction, right?
Rockets in 6th place in the West? It's possible, I guess - but considering the Rockets still finished 5th last year (with homecourt)......... and that was without RonRon or a healthy Yao, I don't see any way the Rockets finish outside the top 3.
Jazz should be a top 4 seed, too.
i think we finally pissed off john millsap. his web page is gone. this is a sad day at TBJ.
Hey grungedave, will you remind me who beat the Rockets in the first round last year? Just curious. Oh, and don't get me wrong, although the Jazz will be the #1 seed, they still won't have homecourt advantage due to some random technicality.
Hey, I've been reading and laughing with your blog for awhile now. I never wanted to comment because my only google account was through my wife's blog. I finally spent the time to create my own user name and hope to comment regularly.
Agreed that this is a now or not for a long time Championship run for the Jazz. I don't think that we'll have a team this talented for at least a couple years. I really think that if we stay healthy (especially Deron Williams) that we have a good chance. It would also be helpful if we learned to play Defense.
welcome aboard "sober as hot rod" nice to have you. Great name by the way. Now that you have created your own account C.B. Jack will be contacting you to get your Social Security #, Credit Card #, etc. Not that there is any risk or fees becoming a True Blue Jazz fan, we just need to do a background check etc. Thanks for reading. Feel free to make comments, suggestions anytime.

CB, I was just talking about the regular season...
though I should have known my audience as the Jazz are prone to "skipping steps" on the long journey to no real accomplishments.
btw, I am very anxious for the regular season to start and we can begin our rivalry again. Though hopefully the "rivalry" will be more like Yankees/Red Sox 1919-2003, with the Rockets playing the role of the Yankees.
Because it certainly has been like Yankees vs. Red Sox circa 2004-2008. We own you right now and crazy pill is not going to change that. Maybe next year when Booz is in Miami it will be a little different.
uhhh, the Red Sox actually won CHAMPIONSHIPS from 2004 to 2008... so I'd hold off on that comparison.
