Jazz vs. Lakers Game 4 Recap

"Ha, Ha, Ha! Did you just say you were going to win game four?"

YESSSSS! If there was ever a game that caused heart problems, anxiety, irregularity, etc, etc. Today's game four between the Jazz and Lakers did just that. I am going to give you a recap of the game through my eyes, and then let ESPN give you the real specifics.
So, of course, being the religious man I am...err, my wife makes me be, I was in church. I was able to use my two year old as a scape goat and made it home just before the half. I put my daughter down for a nap and immediately turned the game on. Alright, alright, so I turned the game on and then put my daughter down for a nap....on the couch....in the living room...right by the T.V. (Nothing calms here down quicker than a Jazz game.)

Not to get too off-track, but I am a highly superstitious person so when I turned the game on and saw our nine point lead dwindle down to nothing before the half I had to think of something. Was I going to sit in a different chair, change my shirt, I had to do something. So, I did what every fan would do. I took one for the team and changed the channel. For the next two hours I watched the Discovery Channels "Deadliest Catch - Mothers Day Marathon" only tuning to ABC for quick updates and then immediately getting out of there. This was working. I checked in every 4-5 minutes. As I did this, the Jazz were keeping a 4-6 point lead. This worked for nearly the entire second half. However, with just over four minutes left in the game the Jazz were up by 12 and I got greedy. I changed it to the game only to realize I was single-handily bringing them down. The next thing I knew I had caused the Jazz to blow their lead and watch the Lakers send the game into overtime. Now, a lot of you are going to read how Kobe, Odom, Fisher and the boys turned it on and forced the game into overtime. Nope. That's not it. This one is on me Jazz fans. I should have waited it out. I should have never tuned into the game until the buzzer sounded. I apologize for the stress I brought upon all of you.

As overtime began I was right back to what was working. Only this time, I disciplined myself even further, only checking the scores on my phone not the television. This was all it took. Jazz Win, Jazz Win. It was not pretty and they came awfully close to ruining Mothers Day, but they fought hard. Wish I could have witnessed it first hand, but those are the types of things I am willing to do for the sake of this organization.

Now, on to the real recap.

This was HUGE WIN for this team.! Now it's time to steal one in L.A. It's not going to be easy but this team can do it. I know they can! Go Jazz!

Jazz Win One for Mothers Everywhere!

You son of a b Ron Boone. I did not need all of that extra stress in my life, and it turns out you were the catalyst to it all. Thanks a lot.

Ron, next time you pull something like that please warn us. That caused ER's (my brother IS an ER doctor so I KNOW this,) all over the state to fill with chest pains. Please be a better citizen and give us some sort of fore-warning or better yet STAY IN CHURCH, PAY YOUR TITHING, DO the right thing man!!

Now, one more thing, this whole series can be summed up for me with ONE play in overtime - you know the one - right in front of Jerry Kobe FULLY extends his left arm while dribbling and sends AK to the floor. Who get's the foul you ask? You really need to ask? AK get's the foul. That right there is the series in a nutshell and if we win against these odds? Well, no words for it. Help me out somebody.

And machine, you HATE the Jazz? I'm actually cool with that. Keep on hating on us, it's working. It's helping overcome the 8 on 5 we see often now.

D-Fish is one clutch dude. We have witnessed it many times now, both for us and against us.

Lamar Odom has to be the biggest dissapointment in the NBA. How can that guy play so good like he has this series and be so bad at other times. I am glad he is not on the Jazz because I just could not handle the ups and downs with that guy. Cluth three in the fourth, biggest shot of the game.

D-Will is the MVP of this series right now. Kobe had it after game 1 and 2, but our boy is running a clinic out there right now. He gets to what ever spot on the floor he wants to and then makes the right play almost everytime.

Okur is starting to be "Money" again. Its good to see the big shots going down.

Where does the block that Ronnie Price put on Walton rank in the small guy blocks hall of fame? Top 15 maybe?

Is Kobe a soccer player? I am sure that his back was in legitimate pain, but he only seemed to show when he missed a shot. If he made the shot there was no wincing, no limping back on defense.

For a second, I thought it was me...
When I watched the first quarter, the Jazz were rolling.
I then watched a movie.
That ended near the end of the 4th, I went to Yahoo and saw the Jazz were up by 12. I switched to the game.
Good-bye lead.
I stayed there throughout though... only trying to overcome the bad karma by switching back to the movie channel early in OT and then back to the game.
It worked... but I guess it wasn't me that caused it, so I'm good. :)

It was a nice win though.

I've always hated the Jazz, Mark, and it's never really helped the Jazz before, so I don't think that is what is helping your team right now. I was really disappointed in the way the Lakers played...especially in overtime. They didn't play their game and didn't pass the ball as well as they have been. Also, I know that good old Ronnie being ejected wasn't the reason we lost, but come on...Flagrant 2?? Really?? Maybe Price should show some control when he drives...that was not a flagrant foul. Did Shaq get traded back to the Lakers? How did they miss so many freakin free throws??

Anyway, the Jazz put up a heck of a fight to make this a series...I just hope that the Lakers can take their punch to the mouth and get back to their game. Pau, stop whining and take back the paint. Kobe, if you can't finish a layup because of your back, then freakin pass the ball. Don't let that walking stick figure block your shot, man. I appreciate what you did in the 4th quarter, but you killed us in OT.

Now I have to apologize to my wife for the bad mood I was in for mother's day...is that what you wanted, Laker defense?

I'm not worried yet...we can still right the ship on Wednesday, but I am pissed off. Apparently I should have taken a page out of Jazz fan's book and not watched overtime. Maybe it's my fault the Lakers lost. I'm such an idiot.

I actually gave the DVR thing a shot earlier in the year but that resulted in losses to the Knicks, T-Wolves and the Heat. There will be no more DVR'd games at my place.

Booner.

You are the heart and soul of this team.

Had I known you were pulling the superstitious card, i wouldn't have stayed up until midnight watching the game on DVR.

You are the chosen one. Keep it up. What's on the Superstitious docket for Wed. game?

ps. Are you still wearing the same underwear from the year Drew Bledsoe was with the Patriots?

Brock Kassing said...

I really don't see why I would change anything yet. Now, if we get off to a slow start I may change things up, but for now, it's going to be the "no-watch, cell phone score check strategy."
I have a few back-up plans that have brought many a victory to my teams. You may remember them, there was the 1. "Don't move from the middle seat of the couch while wearing my Jazz hat crooked" which carried us to the Conference Finals Last Year. There was also,
2. "Sit on the edge of the bed while using my daughters High School Musical Blanket" which led us to victory in game six vs the Rockets this year. Finally, there was
3. "Don't blink during an entire inning while C.B. holds one of those mini-fans up against face." which carried the Salt Lake Bees to 12 straight victories in the PCL. You may ask yourself, who does that for a triple-a ball club? well, this Cowboy does my friend. This cowboy does.

Booner

Oh, and to answer your P.S. C.B. No. I am not. You can thank poor engineeing by Fruit of a Loom for that. They wore down two days before this last SuperBowl. Hence the 19-1 season by N.E.

CB, funny I watched it on DVR too, even extened it for 30 minutes; you know playoffs and all and yet still missed the last 19 sec. RB, whatever you did the past 5 days don't change ANYTHING, not socks, not scivies, NOTHIN man. Be a TEAM player, you can do it.

Done Deal Mark.

M. D. said...

Mark, I made sure I recorded the next 3 shows just in case there was a triple OT. Sorry you missed it.

Ron. Chances of us hanging out the next few days? Slim to none. No offense.

Hey everyone. Big Jazz party at my place on Wed. There will be tons of free stuff and chicks. We'll be auctioning off a D.Will jersey, a Drew Bledsoe jersey, a Tom Brady signed football, giving away six 58' plasma TV's. Everyone will leave with a sweet prize. Ron, you're not invited. Keep checking that cell phone though.

See you there everyone!

Brock Kassing said...

No, no, no, don't feel bad. What's important to me is that all of you have fun and the Jazz get a victory.

P.S. What is your fax #? I need to fax over a contract for you to sign. It says "Friendship Termination Contract" in big bold letters. I believe it's in "Arial Font."

P.S.S. No offense.

@one more thing, this whole series can be summed up for me with ONE play in overtime

This is the reason I love you guys, even in a game that you get 20 more free throws, Jazz fans are bitching about the refs. I love you guys!

Mark said...

CB, I'll be there but I would like pictures 'BEFORE' hand of the so-called 'chicks' that will be in attendance. That's not too much to ask right - Also please have them smiling so I can see if they have teeth (at least most of the front ones anyway.) Oh, if it's left over easter marsh(DUI)mello 'chicks' I'll just show up for one of the Plasma's. Cool?

Mark said...

And Orange man I could bitch about a whole lot of things, I just choose the refs since they are always such an easy target.

UofTOrange said...

At least y'all are consistent ;-)

M. D. said...

Mark. I can't get you pictures. But bring $50 to help cover the fees. I mean, for chips and dip and stuff like that.

Mark said...

Fees. Right. OK, fees. So $50 will cover the 'fees?'

Brock Kassing said...

Hey, C.B. are these "fees" the same "fees" you had me pay last year when those girls from....THE REST OF THIS COMMENT HAS BEEN DELETED BY THE ADMINISTRATOR.
