Calling My Shot

Are you ready for this Rockets?

Are you ready to have 20,000 lunaticts screaming at you? Are you ready to get hit in the face? Are you ready to take your game to a higher level in the most hostile environment in the NBA?

Here's the deal, the Utah Jazz are going to the second round of the playoffs. Mark it down, check it off on your things that are already done list, block out 3 hours on Sunday afternoon for game one in LA and put some money aside for tickets to game three against the Lakers back here in SLC. The Rockets are going to be sent home crying once again at the hands of the Utah Jazz. That is the natural order of things in the universe. The Utah Jazz beat the Rockets in the playoffs, it goes together like peanut butter and jelly, or green jello and carrots or Roger Clemens / Karl Malone and underage girls. The Jazz have won the last 3 playoff series with the Rockets and 4 of 6 overall. Mark this one down to make it 4 in a row and 5 of 7.

Why so confident you ask? I have watched 87 Jazz games this year and since the Korver trade the Jazz have rebounded with a victory every time after a crap game like the last one. In fact since the Korver trade the Jazz have not lost back to back games ever. Think about that, not a single losing streak in 4 months now. That is 55 games and counting without losing 2 in row. With the exception of 2 games, all of the wins following a loss were by at least 8 points or more showing that the Jazz come back focused and ready to attack. This team has proven time and time again that they know how to shrug off a bad loss and come back to win the next game.

Some more reasons for confidence; Boozer started to show some signs of life in game 5 taking the ball to the rim a bit more - he is over due for a typical Boozer 25 and 15 game. Korver is due for a break-out game and the home cooking should give it to him. Memo may have found his 3 point stroke and Deron just had his garbage game, you know he will be out for blood tonight. Do you have any confidence that the Rockets can duplicate the effort and results of game 5 on the road? I don't.

So there it is, in black and white for all to see. The Jazz have history and home court on their side. The ESA is going to be rocking like it never has before and we will all get to see Traysee cry at the podium again.

Are you ready for this Rockets Fans?

AMEN B-HAMMMY! Great post and great stats to back it up. I'm ready for blood! I'm going to go burn some couches and cars to get ready for tomorrow.

Oh I'm ready alright. Sounds like Scrum is ready for some big ole Tracie tears too. Enjoy, this should be fun!

If I'm crying tonight it'll be due to my test performance...I've read for this class about 3 times

Lee, Leave the sarcasm and reverse psychology back at the Dream Shake. After all, it is just a dream.

Jazz by 8

Jazz by 11 - 3 double-doubles, Memo, DWill, & Booze. That reminds me, we have an In-N-Out now here in St George so DB-DB animal style, fries, chocolate shake, & a water for lunch, $6.36. Besides the ocean another good thing to come from the golden state who by the way the baby blues will be visiting on Sunday!

I totally mis-read your comment Mark, my bad. YES, I am ready for TRACY'S tears :)

Mark,

How have the crowds been? I'm coming to the good city of St. George tomorrow for a family affair. I told my wife we had to stop, and she doesn't want to fight the lines...

I used to live in St. George for 4 years growing up. Half of my family is still down there.

Bring on the sun baby.

Family affair? Wife's sister? Making a run out to Colorado City? Sorry, couldn't resist. And the lines aren't bad (at In-N-Out NOT Colorado City.) Walk-In has been faster than drive through and even during busy times walk-in wait is only 5-10 minutes. Utah's Dixie (and I don't give a crap if the word 'DIXIE' is not PC anymore,) where 9 months of the year it's heaven and the other three is a little hot, OK, really hot, but it's a 'dry heat,' really it is! Enjoy!

FYI, I'll be on LA's ESPN station talking with Steve Mason and Kris from BasketballJohn. I'll try and give you guys a plug if I can. Even if you are dirty Utah fans ;-)

Good luck Lee. Do whatever it takes to bring down the Lake Show.

Down with the machine!

So, by this rationale, every time the Rockets beat the Jazz in the playoffs, the Rockets win the Championship? Awesome!

(I'll go pre-order the collector's edition stuff from SI now!)

Of course, on the flip side, every time the Jazz beat the Rockets in the playoffs, they do NOT win the Championship.

I love statistics.

You Rocket fans never cease to amaze me. They must be teaching some wicked good math down there, because your comment just blew my lid.

Incredible. Would you be interested in a score keeping job with the NBA?

Guys, I'm getting really nervous. Anybody else? I gotta read Hammy's post a few more times otherwise I'm going to freak out.

I went over and read Dream Shake's preview of the game - it really does depend on the refs, as much as I hate to admit it. We need some home cooking more than ever. AK and Booz HAVE TO PLAY WELL TONIGHT. I don't want to see anything like the crap on Tuesday night.

I'll be honest. I'm not nervous for this game. I feel really good about it right now.

I think reality has set in and the boys are going to dig deep and quit playing nice ball. Look for this game to be the most physical game yet.

The only thing I am worried about is the ESA running out of tissues during the Rockets press conference.

The Rockets are not going down without a fight. I think the hot shooting will continue as this team is VERY streaky. I would love it if T-Mac silenced all of the critics and dished out another 47 point performance like he did back in November against the hapless Jazz.

Utah can kiss a blowout goddbye. This game will be decided in the last minute and my $$$ is on the heart. Yeah, that would be the Rockets.

Floppelinko will have to go return to Houston and dig deep for another Tony Award from the refs.
