So What's It Gonna Be?

Tonight's game has blow out written all over it and it better be the Jazz laying it on hard and heavy. This game will be decided for the Jazz in the first 5 minutes. If they come out flat and get knocked around early look for AK to be on the bench with his BlackBerry booking that trip to France for the summer. (Is there anyone who cares less about his team in the NBA than AK? I hope Deron kicked him in the head when he got back.) And subsequently look for Kevin O'Connor on his BlackBerry trying to trade AK for a bucket of chicken wings. On the other hand, if the Jazz come out like wild dogs and are the more aggressive team look out. The Lakers know that they have one more game at home and that they have owned the Jazz there all season so if they get down big look for the white flag.

The crowd needs to be over the top tonight. I want all of the lunatics in the seats tonight and I want them to bring their crazy uncle too. I want Kobe, Lamar, Pau and Fisher booed for the entire game with out stopping, even when they are on the bench. I want to hear Phil complain to the league again about how the noise hurts his ears. We as fans need to be involved in this one like the hooligans are for soccer. Basically I would like to see 20,000 of these guys invade the ESA tonight.

We still have not seen a complete game from the Jazz this series, do they have the requisite sized manhood to put it together tonight? Can Boozer take the dress off and start playing like a man? Can AK take his game up another level and cause havoc all over the floor? At what point does D-will say eff-it and score 40? Can Korver have one great shooting game? Can Lamar Odom keep it up? Is Pau Gasol really that good? All good questions that I am sure many of us are pondering today. This much I know for sure, the series is going back to LA tied at 3-3. Kobe has never won a playoff game in Salt Lake, he sure as hell is not going to be getting one tonight.

We'll see you in LA on Monday.

"Requisite sized manhood"

Well-put, Hammy, I love the spirit! Still a little shocked you dropped the "boozers" - a drastic maneuver, but it was definitely warranted.

I have to agree with you - I just don't see this one being a close game. Most NBA fans would think that we mean in favor of the home team. As a Jazz fan, I know my team well enough that there is a decent chance that the Lakers will run out of the locker room with their feet on our throats and proceed to crush us in the first 5 minutes. I think Jerry should approach the refs and get a T before tip-off just to fire the fellas up. What do you think?

Well MUJ fans. Guess who stumbled upon some tickets for tonights game?

Yeppers.

Booner and CB Jack will be putting together a podcast of the game. We'll be interviewing Jazz fans about what "horrible people" they are.

If you are a My Utah Jazz fan and will be at the game tonight, drop us an email at myutahjazz@gmail.com. Give us your cell number and we'll find you for an interview. We'll also be doing book signings, pictures with babies, and chest signatures (as approved by our wives).

We will prove to the world that Jazz Nation has the best fans in the NBA. We'll come at you before tip off and a few thoughts as the game goes on.

Look for it tomorrow morning/afternoon!

We will not lose!

Lakers by 16. Kobe won't shoot in the 4th quarter again this game, but it will be because he will be on the bench, game in hand. Mark my words. The fans will be taken out of this game in the first quarter and the only sounds for the rest of the night will be cb choking on his nachos and that stupid bear shooting himself in the head.

Sorry guys. It's not coming back to LA. And it's going to be great to see the look on all your faces when you lose. it's going to be great.

Scrum, you're back!!! Where you been, brother??

I agree about the fans. The Jazz brass need to take tickets to the masses. You know the rabble that gather to watch the game outside the ESA on the big screen? Those are the people we need in the lower bowl.

They need to be our first line of defense, kind of like those part human-part animal Celts Prince John used in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (You all know what I'm talking about). They will be led by Dr. What's-his-name with the umbrella of justice.

adam,

you lost me at hello.

Scrum is back! That is a great sign. Nice post Hammy. Let the flood gates open Jazz fans, we cannot go down on our own court.

Sorry guys, I got WAY too riled up after the first 2 games in LA. Plus I had finals. I got too caught up in what everyone's take on the games were. More specifically, what the Laker fans kept saying. I've stayed far away from the comments sections for the last 10 days or so in order to regain my sanity. Not just here though, I've been silent on BBJ too.

moneyman memo said...

CBJ and Booner - I am so jealous that you two are going to the game. My only concern is that Booner is going to be there. What types of superstitious safeguards will you be implementing? Here's one suggestion for CBJ - if the Lakers go up by more than 10, punch Booner in the nuts. (Sorry Boone-dog, could you take one for the team?).

M. D. said...

How about at every lead change?

moneyman memo said...

Good idea, CBJ. And if that seems to be working, then do it each time it looks like Kobe's going to take a shot (free-throws included).

Matt said...

Go Jazz...I see Boozer showing up on the offensive end, (getting calls in Utah) and getting 25/13. Jazz by 9 and Korver has 4 3's.
On to LA....I'd rather not think about that.

I'm going to go out on the limb and say that I don't know what the outcome of the game will be until later tonight.

I am not here to gloat, because I don't do that, but I just wanted to point out "Derek Fisher - 14.17 ppg"

Use ketchup, it will help it down.

Unbelievable pain right now. So proud of my boys, but unbelievable pain. A championship-caliber team got screwed in the 4th quarter by god-awful officiating tonight.

I am more disillusioned with the NBA right now than I have ever been in the 12 years I have been watching. Even after the Miami-Dallas finals, I still stuck with the NBA and believed that the best team would come out on top. I know this is coming after a painful loss, but I seriously don't know if I can continue to watch the National Basketball Association anymore. It's clearly not about basketball, it's about superstars, popularity, and the fiscal bottom line.

Hold your heads up Utah. You played like heros at the end but fell short. You are a great team and great adversaries. We fear you. But you also fear us. We respect you, and it is mutual. We will see you next year in the WCF. Take heart, you almost did it.

Seriously, though I think that the Jazz were the second best team in the NBA this year.

It's entirely possible that the Jazz could beat every other team in the playoffs besides the Lakers.

Boozer just is not athletic enough to play against taller defenders just as quick as him.

Deron Williams is a STUD. He has nothing to be ashamed of.

Ronnie Brewer - work on your jumper this summer, so that teams will pay for not guarding you.

Andrei - have fun in Paris.

Anonymous said...

Adios, fellas! I respect your team, but I hate the classless fans who come to your arena. If you're a Jazz fan but you would never throw stuff at the visiting bench - and don't condone it either - then I'm not talking to you. As for the rest of you: 20 years of Jerry Sloan and you're still throwing garbage? I guess class isn't contagious, after all.

king_mamba said...

i stand corrected, you already drop boozers... my bad.

to rub it in more:

The Lakers showed they have just enough experience and firepower, beating the Utah Jazz 108-105 at EnergySolutions Arena Friday night, and demonstrated why they have the right mix to beat either the New Orleans Hornets or the San Antonio Spurs in the next round.

They just notched an increasingly rare road victory in these playoffs. At the start they showed an understanding of the initial effort it takes to prevail in hostile environments.

king_mamba said...

still rubbing it:

Jerry Sloan kept painting the Lakers as the more experienced team, even though the Jazz were the ones who went to the conference finals last year and had almost everyone back. The only Lakers who had reached the conference finals before were Bryant, Fisher and Luke Walton.

The Lakers successfully turned down the volume on the vociferous Utah crowd, using a steady flow of fast-break points, 3-pointers and free throws to pound the Jazz.

By the end of the first half the fans were reduced to chanting derisively at the referees, as if it were the official's fault the Jazz shot 33 percent, or that they played defense that let the Lakers get whatever shots they wanted. Hey, maybe the refs chartered the plane for Andrei Kirilenko's ill-timed trip to San Francisco Thursday to take care of visa issues at the French embassy.

Actually, one fan did blame Kirilenko, commandeering a public address microphone during halftime and using the arena loudspeakers to urge Jazz owner Larry Miller to trade Kirilenko.

king_mamba said...

And by the third quarter, one Jazz fan was directing the same nasty verb used for the referees at Carlos Boozer.

Boozer was ineffective as he was for most of the series, going out with 12 points on 5-of-16 shooting before fouling out, as the Lakers successfully defended him with a variety of looks. These playoffs represented a step backward for him.

M. D. said...

I'm depressed.

pslakerfan said...

CBJack,

Maybe you can help Scrum get that shirt down.

Unknown said...

Its bad enough that the Jazz got eliminated on their home floor but whats really embarrassing is how the fans looked like a bunch of whiny bitches during the game. The Jazz were down by 19, couldnt stop anybody, couldnt do anything offensively, yet somehow it was the refs fault for their teams embarrassing display. Have you ever noticed that its always the LOSING team whining about the refs? Thats why this morning the Utah Jazz and their fans wake up as losers today.

Ashley and Paul said...

It is too bad that a few Jazz fans can ruin a whole arenas reputation... but they do. My favorite team is always they who play the Jazz. Fairweathered? YES! Why? Because I get some sick joy watching the annoying classless throw stuff because you are babies Jazz fans sadly sulking home.

Brock Kassing said...

Thanks John and all the other Laker fans for rubbing it in as well as stating the obvious. I love the Jazz and I love our fans. We are passionate (at times a little too passionate) and we love our team. Yes, there are some complete idiots out there but you were not there to see the Laker fans causing trouble the entire game. I saw more drunk Laker fans falling over chairs and spilling beer into innocent ladies' laps last night then I did last fall at the "Mullets and Mugs Fair" in Ireland. True Laker fans would have been embarrased just as much as true Jazz fans were embarrased last night at some of our fans.
Was there some whining, hell yes. I was one of them. It's hard not to when you watch a player like D-Will get no love from the officials. No Laker fan can honestly say that Kobe does not get special attention. He is good, but it is pathetic. Because of the baby-sitting league the NBA is, us Jazz fans expect a little of that for D-Will, but nope. Fans were whining because we played poorly and we were all frustrated. That coupled with refs making controversial calls that kept killing any chance of making a run had us all on edge. The fact is we lost to the better team. I hate saying that but it is true....for now. On behalf of all the idiots who chucked stuff on the court or towards the Lakers bench, I apologize. (Next time, aim at the refs.) Here's to next year and many more Jazz/Laker battles to come. Go Jazz!....and Go whatever Eastern Conference Team makes it to the Finals!

P.S. Hey "Chubbs": What are you doing with your life?

P.S.S. Does anyone know what Ashley was trying to say?

Al said...

I am sorry to say that your team is inherently flawed. Relying on Boozer, Okur, and Kirilenko does not bode well for your future. Deron is your only legit player, although I really like Milsap's game. Harpring is a cheap shot artist who doesn't play defense. He just holds and grabs. And as we saw last night, Korver doesn't have that manhood to take a big shot. He passed up a catch and shoot 3 to tie the game, the exact reason why you guys acquired him. I respect your passion for your team, but I doubt you will get out of the west in the next 5 years when looking at how stacked the Lakers are and will be for the immediate future. On top of that, your fan have lack of decency and respect. OH, and you guys gave Fish shit about his contract situation when Boozer stabbed a blind man in the back in a worse situation. It all adds up. You guys are done. Good night Jazz fans.....and good luck.

The Machine said...

I admit when I'm wrong...the Lakers only won by 3, not by 16. It was definitely going the way I envisioned up until the 4th quarter, though. You have to admit that the Lakers offense is awesome to watch.

All superstars get calls, boone. Did you see the charge call on Pierce in the other game last night? That was called because it was Lebron James. Get a superstar, get calls. Fortunately for Jazz fan, Deron Williams will almost certainly be in that class. Dude is scary. I fully expected that last shot of his to go in.

Good series, good teams, good blogging, and the better team did prevail. This was your chance to beat the Lakers, because when Bynum comes back, nobody will beat them. Enjoy your trip to France, AK47. Maybe they can teach you to surrender properly, so we don't have to go six games next time.

Hey Chubs,

Who is the "John Smith" that you keep referencing? You talk about him as if you know who he is. If you are trying to make fun of Mormons by talking bad about our founding Prophet at least do us the courtesy of getting his name right. It's Joe Smith. Be careful out there in the big world, your ignorance and intollerance will catch up to you some day.

As for the game, it pains me to say this, but the better team won. And really it was not even that close. Boozer was heartless, Derron was a superstar and the rest of the team looked star struck.

The Jazz had a decent year, but this series exposed some flaws that need to be addressed for this team. Namely, our front line and defense.

I hate the Lakers more today than I did yesterday, especially Kobe and D-Fish. Seriously, if Fisher would have played that well for us during the San Antonio series last year we would never have let him go. I really enjoyed most of the back and hope we can meet up again next year in the playoffs. Stay Classy guys.

Brock Kassing said...

Thanks Al. That's the first time anyone has ever brought up the Fisher situation. Glad you could shed some light on it. Oh, and you are not going to break our hearts throwing Boozer under the bus so go ahead.
Enough with the smack on fans. Crazy, over-dramatic fans are everywhere rooting for teams througout professional sports. We saw plenty of them wearing purple and yellow last night so the fans being cold holds no ground...at all. We could pick apart every arena out there.
Yes, you (Lakers) have an All-Star Team that is going to be tough to beat, we are not arguing that with you. Good luck next series.
To the Machine, I know all superstars get calls, that's why I said, "Because of the baby-sitting league the NBA is, us Jazz fans expect a little of that for D-Will, but nope."
One day we will know what it's like to have a player get star treatment. Maybe then I won't whine about the refs.....nah. I'll still whine.

That was an amazing series. You guys have an incredible team. It looks like the Lakers and the Jazz will be fighting it out for years to come.

I also apologize for all of those bandwagon classless fans that are coming out to gloat. Please realize that they aren't representative of the Laker nation.

king_mamba said...

sorry for rubbing it in! am done with that. anyways was born in provo but as an enlisted dude i dont have a permanent address as of yet. i say trade boozer for a defensive center and move okur to PF spot. trade AK for a good enough SG. and seriuosly consider revising the offensive sets. man it was run 20 years ago, every coach in the league have ideas how to stop it. especially the zen master.

Al said...

Jeff, speak for yourself. No one appointed you the voice of Laker Fans. I have been a Laker fan for over 20 years. And no, it really wasn't an amazing series. Each Laker win was never really in doubt, and the Lakers could have easily closed them out in 5. Sitting close enough to pick up on little nuances of each team, it was clear that Utah had no chance. Especially with the bitterness a few of the players have for one another. And to the notion that superstars get calls. Well, superstars who drive to the basket and are playing against a team of hacks get calls. I was really amazed at the amount of times Jazz players looked shocked at a foul call when it was blatant. There is another reason why the Lakers shot more free throws. Jazz players dont play d. They hack. Being physical is fine. But being physical to the point that you are fouling every time down the floor is stupid. Playing aggressive, physical d, contesting shots without fouling is much more productive. And I didn't hear anyone complaining when the Jazz shot 45 fts and 20 more than the Lakers in game 4. Like i said in my original comment, Utah is inherently flawed. I feel bad for them because I would hate having to root for guys that I truly know wont be able to get over the hump and into the finals.

Al, just because you've been a Lakers fan for 20 years doesn't give you any excuse to be classless and continue to remind them over and over again why you believe our team is superior to theirs.

We won the game and the series, so clearly, in this series we were the better team. This doesn't give us any excuse to lord it over the losing team. If they are unhappy to have lost the series and believe that there were factors outside of their control, then that's their prerogative to do so.
